A General Holiday Letter is written by an employee to his/her boss/employer asking permission to leave for a short duration to attend to personal commitments. Everyone needs a holiday once in a while to perform their other responsibilities towards their families.
This letter should be written formally as it is directly addressed to the management. Special care should be taken to make no grammatical mistakes while typing the letter. Mention all the details such as your duration of leave, whether you will be available or not, etc. Keep the letter concise and to the point. If it is urgent to take the leave, mention the same. You can either briefly explain about the commitment in hand or politely mention that you cannot disclose the reasons. Be genuine and sincere in the tone of your letter and give respect to the receiver. If you don’t know how to get started, feel free to use the tips and samples below to go on.

Subject: Permission for general holiday
Dear Frank,
I am writing this letter to inform you that I will be unable to attend office for two days from 13 August to 15 August 2013 since I need to take care of certain commitments in my home-front after recently shifting into our new accommodation. I will join back work on 16 August 2013.
It has been three weeks since I shifted, but certain issues like transfer of telephone connection, registering a change in mailing address at the bank and so on are still left unresolved. I need time off on working days to set them right since these offices have not heeded to my repeated telephonic requests.
Since this is a short leave, I have not handed my work to anyone else. I will be available locally for any urgent work. You can also contact me on my phone number, 4526267546.
I request you to kindly grant me leave for two days and oblige.
Thanking you in anticipation,
Yours sincerely,
Rajeev
