As an employer, you are to know best how well suited an employee is for a scholarship. Apart from other requirements, an employee applying for a scholarship program needs a reference letter from his/her current or former employer, even if the employee was working for the organisation in the near past. In this letter, the employer is expected to write or give information about the employee like his skills, flaws, talents, his performances throughout his stay with the company and so on.
A reference letter for the scholarship is not much different from one that you would give to an employee who is leaving the company, or when you want that employee to be promoted to a higher designation. The difference is perhaps, in the actual content which will include specific information regarding the employee’s suitability for a scholarship as opposed to the qualifications of the job. A badly written reference letter can prevent the employee’s chance of getting a full scholarship. Thus, this letter should be written very carefully and with utmost detail.
