There may be instances where you send an application for something of great importance like a job and receive no response from the other side. If you are stressed about not receiving any response, go ahead and remind them about your application! It’s a good measure to write an Application Follow-Up Letter to a prospective employer as a reminder. Usually, follow-up letters should be sent after at least a week to make sure that the employer had enough time to check your application.
As this is a different kind of letter altogether, it should be written with care. It should never be a reflection of your frustration for not receiving a response on time. The approach to be followed is a polite one, requesting the receiver to review your application and explaining your skills. Remember that your motive is still to impress the employer. This letter serves to the purpose of making the employer feel that you are keen on getting this job and you are interested in them.
Application Follow Up Letter Writing Tips
- Always be cautious about the tone being followed; be sure to follow a polite tone in this letter.
- Don’t express frustration or ask the reason for not responding.
- Explain the details of your initial application.
- Tell them you are looking forward to working with them.
- Briefly, elaborate on your skills.
- Keep the letter short; a busy employer never likes a long letter!
