An audition is essentially an interview held for a performer, be it a musician, an actor, singer or dancer. Here the candidate offers a private performance for a roster of judges to showcase his/her skill and suitability for the required role. Roles usually require a very specific quality in a person, and judges need to see an artist up close in his/her element to see if he/she suits the role. Hence, an audition is a fairly common and routine practice to find suitable artists for a play, musical, film or dance performance.
An Audition Announcement Letter is written by the person who is in charge of organizing the whole event. It is generally displayed on a bulletin board near the person’s office or a common area where announcements are generally made. The letter must contain all the necessary information with respect to the event. This includes the no of performers required for each category, such as actors, musicians, singers, backstage personnel etc.
A successful audition announcement letter also contains the rules or criteria necessary for the audition including eligibility requirements as well as other miscellaneous information such as means of communication, venue etc. Check out the tips and sample to know how to write the letter.

Dear Students,
It is my pleasure to announce the commencement of the auditions for our annual play. This year, we will be performing “The Merchant of Venice”, one of William Shakespeare’s true classics. The auditions will commence for the acting roles on 13th April, after the school ends while the auditions for the band will take place on 15th April.
There will be ten major roles, along with a host of supporting roles and additional extras will also be required. Those who wish to audition can pick up the script from the student desk at the theater club. Additionally, we require students to aid with backstage preparations and props, and they can directly enroll themselves in my office during the lunch break.
Students who are selected for their respective roles will have to devote two hours every day for practice. Furthermore, you will be asked to attend practice sessions during the weekend for an extended duration. Those who are selected for the band will have their activities supervised by the Musical department. For any further queries, you may visit my office at your convenience.
Sincerely,
Lesley King

Dear Students,
I am writing this letter to inform you that we will be running a production of Mamma Mia, the musical. Auditions will commence on 20th May 2017 at the College Amphitheatre from 8 AM. Students interested in participating may collect a letter of absence from my office at their earliest convenience.
Mamma Mia was originally an English production with heavy influences from ABBA, the Swedish Pop group. It follows the journey of a woman, who embarks on a quest to find her father. Given the extensive focus on songs, students who have a good voice will be given preference.
All those interested can pick up a copy of the script from the Theater Club at the earliest. In addition, we require students to help out with props, costumes, and other backstage tasks. All those interested in such capacity can sign up at my office before the end of this week. For further inquiries regarding the play, you can contact the Theater Club or visit me directly at my office.
Yours Sincerely,
Jean Laurence
