Appeal Letter is written to appeal to someone regarding an issue or a request. This letter should be formal. It should be polite, especially because the sender would be requesting the recipient. However, it needs to be simple and concise. A clear and to the point explanation of what exactly is needed and why for the reasons should be mentioned. The recipient needs to be convinced that the sender genuinely deserves help and support. The letter should courteously thank the recipient for reading the letter as well as show that you await his/her reply.
The letter should foster a better relationship with the recipient rather than make him/her feel uncomfortable or obligated to help the sender. The tone of the letter needs to be polite, and at the same time, it needs to be genuine. There is a complete possibility that the receiver will perform certain background checks on the sender as well as see if the request is genuine or not and also if the sender deserves help. Hence, the letter needs to be very precise and truthful.
Academic Appeal Letter Writing Tips

- The request needs to be clearly explained to avoid misunderstandings.
- The reason for the request needs to be communicated in a precise manner.
- A thank you note for taking time out to read the letter is a good gesture.
- It should be communicated that the sender is awaiting a reply through the letter.
- Also, the letter needs to be detailed wherever necessary but not too much for the receiver to lose attention while reading.

Subject: Academic Appeal application
Respected Sir,
I’m writing this letter to appeal to reconsider my suspension from writing the term exams due to non-payment of fees. My father is the only earning member in my family, and he is suffering from a serious terminal illness since the past one month. Hence, there is a delay in the payment of last term fees. I have joined a part-time job to facilitate my house and also pay the final term fees. I request you to please give me a chance to write the term exam and complete my engineering course. I promise to pay the final term fees at the earliest.
If you could give me one chance, I would appreciate and prove you didn’t waste your time on reading this. Thank you for taking time out of your busy schedule to read this letter. I would be eagerly awaiting your response.
Thanking you
Yours Sincerely,
Kanchi.
