A Retirement Letter is an official written order to inform an employee who has had a long term at a company about the termination of his services. A person retires mostly when they reach the retiring age which lies between 55 and 65 years, which requires the writer of such a letter to keep this fact in mind while composing a retirement letter.
The retirement letters are written in the official capacity and should contain the most courteous language. The writer should keep in mind that the receiver of this letter has assumedly been a dedicated and hardworking asset to the company and is an integral part of the company.
In a resignation letter, the writer needs to ensure that he only talks about the contributions made by the employee towards the success of the company and not dwell over any unpleasantries that may have been caused in the course of the employee’s career at the company. It is most vital for the writer to appear glad to have worked with the employee.
However, the letter must contain formal language and tone and should not sound like an emotional farewell letter.
Tips for Writing Retirement Letter Sample
- The letter should not only be grammatically correct but also be formal in appearance.
- These letters should depict respect for the receiver as it is usually written for a senior officer.
- All details should be mentioned clearly without any discrepancy.
- The letter must on no account sound like a dismissal. That the writer is sorry to lose such a dedicated employee, should be prominent in the letter.
