RE: Resigning from Post of Teacher

Dear Mrs. McGonagall,

I am writing to inform you of my decision to resign from the post of high school science teacher at Minton High School. Please accept this letter as three months’ notice as stipulated in the contract.

I want to make a change in my career by switching over to teaching college students at the graduate level. To this end, I have enrolled for a Ph.D. in botany. As you are well aware, this entails a lot of research and paper presentation which I will not be able to do with a full-time job.

I joined Minton High on 21st March 2005, and the eight years I taught here have been very fulfilling, and I have gained much wisdom from my colleagues and my students as well.

As the Board which has to approve the resignation meets in August, I shall continue with my teaching responsibilities for grades 8, 9, and ten till 30th September 2013 which will be my last working day.

I take this opportunity to thank you, the School Board, and my fellow teachers for all the support given to me during my tenure.

Dear Headmaster

I am writing to inform you of my decision to be released from my teaching position at Melrose Secondary School with effect from January 1st, 2011, giving more than the stipulated three months’ notice as per my teaching contract.

The reason for my resignation is that I have decided to pursue my Master’s degree in Education from the prestigious National University, whose course term commences in mid-January 2011. It will be a two year full-time studies for me which upon graduation, will open more education-related opportunities for my career.

As my resignation would require the approval of the school Board which only meets in December, I shall continue with my teaching responsibilities until then.

I thank you for your support extended to me while serving this school and I appreciate your kind understanding on my request.
